We only employ friendly Instructors who are passionate about helping others achieve their dreams of flying. The majority have been trained by us. Senior Instructor Chris Maloney will be overseeing the training at Heck Field with support from Instructor Michel Vuilleumier and David Karan. Flight testing is booked a week in advance and is conducted by GoFly CFI Nathan Slee, from Caloundra. You can view our full list of Instructors here.
We offer a modern Sling aircraft with glass cockpit as well as a Viper, for RPC, navigation training, BFR and private hire. You can find the full GoFly fleet here.
As a student training at any of our GoFly locations you will receive FREE access to over 180 video lessons, briefings, safety tips, documentaries and blogs on our exclusive GoFly Online training platform. No more boring white board briefings. Watch the pre-flight and in-flight video lesson in the comfort of your own home, as many times as you need, before your actual flying lesson – which will speed up your learning and save you money.

While the office does have a waiting area, there are more exciting places for your family to wait if they have travelled with you from Brisbane. Here’s a list of things to do at the nearby Jacobs Well township.
Jacobs Well is a coastal suburb of the City of Gold Coast. Named for its natural freshwater waterhole, thirsty travellers have been visiting Jacobs Well since the mid 1800s. Situated near the mouth of the Pimpama River on the edge of a pristine waterway peppered with uninhabited islands, Jacobs Well is a haven for fishermen and boat enthusiasts alike. Find out more about the area, here.
This quaint fishing village, with lovely water views, is situated approximately halfway between the cities of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It can be found 10 minutes off the Pacific Highway after a short drive through scenic fields of sugarcane. (Don’t forget to grab a pie from Yatala Pies if you are coming south from Brisbane!). Aviators who are also keen on fishing will find nearby estuary waters teeming with flathead, whiting, tailor, and bream. You don’t need a boat as you can reel them in from the jetty.
If you are not into fishing, you might like to grab a coffee or some lunch after your flight at Castaways Cafe. Alternatively, why not drop the kids at one of the Gold Coast’s major theme parks (a 15 minute drive south), while you enjoy a double flight lesson.
The heart of the bustling Gold Coast is just 30 minutes down the road. The Gold Coast is famed for its long sandy beaches, surfing spots and elaborate system of inland canals and waterways. It’s also home to theme parks such as Dreamworld, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild. Inland, hiking trails crisscross Lamington National Park’s mountain ridges and valleys, home to rare birds and rainforest. You can find fine dining restaurants, boutique shops, theme parks, aqua fun parks, aquariums, boat cruises, dive experiences, bike and boat hire, mountain climbs and much more! There are so many great things for families to do that you may as well make a day of it (or even stay overnight) if you are travelling from outside the Gold Coast for your flying lesson/s.
